Higgins Commits to Trinity College


 Taylor Higgins (#7 Ranked senior by Gold Star) of Sacred Heart Academy has decided to play basketball next year at Trinity College (CT). She will compete against the likes of Tufts, Amherst, Wesleyan, Williams and Hamilton in the very competitive and academic rich NESCAC conference.

Higgins states, “I chose Trinity because they had the exact majors that I was interested in and I felt it was the best fit academically and athletically.  I had a really good feeling after my overnight visit with the girls on the team.  It just felt right to me.”

This year Taylor is averaging 15 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the 10-4 Sacred Heart Academy team that is ranked #9 in Newsday’s Long Island poll.  They are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the Long Island Catholic League.

Taylor is a four year, three sport varsity athlete in soccer, basketball and lacrosse where she is the captain of each team. She also holds a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society as well as Honor Societies in science, language, mathematics and music.

This well-rounded student-athlete plans to major in neuroscience or chemistry.
